Norma Weber Cetnar Hart October 1, 1930 – January 6, 2023 Norma (‘Wiggie’ to close friends and relatives) passed away peacefully and pain free after 92 vibrant years of life. She is known by her birth name of Norma to many friends who share her beliefs in her faith and to all her friends in Sykesville, Maryland. Her nickname of ‘Wiggie’ or ‘Wigs’ was given to her by her Dad, as she was constantly ‘wiggling’. Norma was a woman who paved the way for other women. At 16, she worked at Kerns Department Store, and for the City of Detroit, as a young lady ahead of the times. She volunteered at Focus Hope, bringing diverse communities together. And she loved to travel the world - by airplane, ship, river boat, and train. Norma married Ed Cetnar and had 3 children (Beverly, Carol and Tom), and leaves a legacy of 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Her love for music is widely known – In Michigan, Norma’s angelic voice could be heard in the choir at St. Basil, St. Denis, with The Lanterns Choral group, and most recently at the Chorale at Fairhaven. She happily led Christmas Carols at family gatherings and could be heard singing as she cleaned. As her children grew, Norma took a luncheon hostess position at Tutag’s Restaurant and later worked in the accounting department at Fetz Engineering. When Ed retired, so did Norma, to enjoy life and spend winters in Florida and the rest of their time at the ‘beach house’ in Lexington, Michigan. Lexington soon became a year-round home, filled with love, laughter, golf cart rides, bonfires, beach days, swims, and BBQ’s. After Ed passed away in 1997, Norma continued to travel to Florida. Knowing Chuck Hart from Florida, they became closer and were married for 11 years, and continued traveling between Michigan and Florida. As she aged, Norma realized living in Michigan was too difficult to be on her own, so she moved to Sykesville, Maryland in 2015 to be closer to her eldest daughter, Beverly, for some added assistance. Norma enjoyed her modified independence at Fairhaven living in her own apartment and making many friends. Everyone knew Norma - what a blessing. Beverly’s extended family helped with Norma’s daily living as she became more infirmed and were with her as she peacefully passed away at Dove House, BridgingLife’s hospice facility. Norma requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in her honor, to Capuchin Soup Kitchen. Alternatively, Norma’s daughters suggest a contribution to support the work of the ‘angels’ at BridgingLife.
