Mrs. Margaret C. Sellors

Peggy has had a lifelong love of intricate hobby work such as cross stitch, needlepoint, model building and making doll houses. She delighted in decorating the houses, and two of the houses she made were wired and had fireplaces. As teenagers, before they were married, she and her husband, Jim, sailed the Chesapeake. Her love of sailing and the Chesapeake inspired her to build a replica of the Skipjack she loved so much. Evidence of the great detail of this model is in the detailed canvas sail and the tiny metal oarlock, about 1/4 of an inch wide. The Skipjack is a graceful sailing vessel closely associated with the fisherman, and especially the oystermen of the Chesapeake. Peggy was born and grew up in Baltimore. After graduating from high school at Mount St. Agnes, she worked for two years in the accounting department at the C&P Telephone Company. In 1950, she and Jim were married. In time they had five children: presently, there is a son in Virginia, a daughter on Kent Island, a son in Atlanta, a daughter in Sykesville and one in Marriottsville. There are thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The Sellors lived in Sykesville from 1957 until 1989. When the children were still at home, the family flew to Denver one summer, rented a camper and spent two months exploring the National Parks and driving to Ainsworth NB, to visit the Sellors Museum, harking back to the where the first Sellors, coming from England, settled. Because Peggy and Jim loved sailing, they kept a boat in Kent Narrows to sail on the Magothy River. In 1989 they sold the small farm in Sykesville to pursue their next dream, and moved to Park Creek in Pasadena. There, they enjoyed many wonderful, lazy days on the water with the family, just floating down the river, fishing or catching crabs. After many happy years traveling from Florida to Ocean City to their condo in Woodstock, Jim passed away in 2007. While Jim, an attorney, a CPA, and a mechanical engineer, was busy running his businesses, Peggy was an active volunteer at The Howard County library and with the Senior Citizens Program. Peggy was fortunate to have a place in Ocean City, where she could entertain her children and grandchildren, and escape the worst of the summer's heat. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Her positive outlook and fun loving, easy going personality made her the best person to be with.
