Mr. Lewis D. Baylor Jr.

Lewis Deal Baylor Jr. age, 66, of Manchester Lewis D. Baylor, Jr. of Manchester, formerly of Eldersburg MD, passed away with the love of his wife and daughter beside him on January 27, 2014. Born July 21, 1947, in Munich, Germany he was the son of the late Lewis Deal Baylor, Sr., and Charlotte G. Stamminger Baylor. He was the husband of 34 years of Michele A. "Micki" Baylor of Manchester. Lew served in the U.S. Air Force from August 1966 to August 1970 stationed in Trapzon, Turkey. Following the completion of his active duty service, he earned an Associate in Arts Degree from the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Lew worked for the Department of Defense/National Security Agency for 36 years. During his career with NSA, he participated in various special projects, and provided support for military operations around the world vital to the national security of the United States. In addition to his work at NSA Headquarters, he was also stationed in Alice Springs, Australia, and Menwith Hill Station in England. He was commended for his contributions to Operations Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Iraqi Freedom, and his support to the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta as a member of the DoD Support Team. He retired from government service in November 2002, and took a position with S.A.I.C., a government contracting company for 9 years. He fully retired in May 2012. He was a Freedom Optimist Girls softball, soccer, and basketball coach for many years. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Carroll County Recreation and Parks Advisory Board. Lew was a 42-year Freemason with the Bensenville, Illinois Lodge, and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Freemason with the Valley of Baltimore Orient of Maryland. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter Lindsey Jeanne Baylor; brothers, Ken M. Baylor (and wife Carla), George L Baylor (and wife Terry), sister-in laws M. Patricia Amato (and husband Sam), and Jan C Farrell (and husband Pat), and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel (6416 Sykesville Road) Sykesville. There will be a masonic memorial service held Thursday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
