John Timothy Arthur, age 84, passed away at the Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, MD, on March 14, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on October 7, 1941, in Baltimore, MD. John was the beloved son of the late John J. Arthur and Sophia Arthur (nee Grzymala) and was affectionately known as John, Tim, and JT to his friends and family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra D. Mills. John was a loving father to his son Richard Arthur and his wife Terry, and to his late son Tony Arthur. His legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren, Ryan Arthur with Chelsea Cortolillo and Samantha Arthur with her husband Tyler Steinberg, and great grandfather to Bowen, Meadow, and Ever Arthur who will carry forward his spirit of kindness. John was also a cherished stepfather to Scott Mills and his wife Rebecca, and Tom Kelly and his wife Lauren, as well as step-grandfather to Gunnar Mills, Macie Kelly, and Asher Kelly. He is also survived by brother and sister in law Michael and Gloria Arthur and sister Eleanor Kennedy. He was predeceased by his first wife Yvonne Patricia Arthur who died in 2014. Prior to his retirement, John was the owner of an industrial equipment and truck repair business, where he applied his exceptional skills and work ethic. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his dedication to his faith as a longtime parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Eldersburg. John served his country honorably as a veteran of the US Army. Those who knew John understood his passion for keeping life simple. He had an innate talent for restoring old cars and could often be found working in his yard and around his house. His love for the ocean was profound, and he found joy in being on his boat. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A Catholic funeral mass will be held at 11am on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville. A gathering to celebrate his life will follow the burial at Liberatores Ristorante in Eldersburg, 6300 Georgetown Blvd, Eldersburg, MD 21784. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, in memo write "Adoration Chapel Restoration", 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
