Howard M. Bopst, Sr., age 70, of Glen Burnie Howard Martin Bopst, Sr., age 70, of Glen Burnie, died Monday, December 6, 2010, at the Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore. Born in Maryland on August 8, 1940, he was the son of the late George Edwin and Helen Marie Payne Bopst. He was the husband of Betty Lynn Bopst (nee Polston) of Glen Burnie. Howard had worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for many years. He grew up in Howard County. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons: Howard M. Bopst, Jr. of Elkridge, Russell L. Bopst of Fayetteville, NC and Shane P. Bopst of Mt. Airy, daughters: Carol M. Naldrett of Mt. Airy and Teresa M. Bopst of Annapolis, step-sons: Willis "Joe" Mahoney of Glen Burnie and Jon Mahoney of Edgewater, step-daughter: Theresa LeBaron of Salisburym brothers: Robert Bopst and Donald Bopst both of SC and Russell J. Bopst of Glen Burnie, sisters: Helen Smith of Granite and Shirley Nightingale of Fayetteville, NC. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 1 step-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a brother, the late Harold Bopst. The family will receive friends at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel (6416 Sykesville Rd) Sykesville on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 pm, concluding with a funeral service at 7:30pm. Private interment will be in Springfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
