Constantine Emanuel Katsampis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Constantine Emanuel Katsampis (Gus). Gus was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, beloved son, and a faithful man of God. His life was a testament to love, strength, and unwavering dedication to his family and his faith. He was the kind of man who always put others before himself, showing up with a steady hand, a kind word, and a heart full of compassion. As a father, he was a guiding light—offering wisdom, support, and unconditional love. As a grandfather and great-grandfather, he brought joy, laughter, and a sense of wonder to every moment, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. As a son, he carried deep respect and gratitude for the family that raised him. Gus graduated from Virginia Tech in 1961 and went on to dedicate 35+ years of his career to Westinghouse, where he was respected for his hard work, integrity, and commitment. He was deeply proud of his Greek heritage, which was reflected in the way he lived—with strong values, deep faith, and a profound sense of family and tradition. His faith in God was the foundation of his life. It shaped the way he loved, the way he served others, and the way he faced both life’s blessings and challenges. He lived with quiet strength and a deep sense of purpose, trusting in God’s plan and leading by example. He found his greatest joy in life’s simple, meaningful moments—creating artful masterpieces, fishing, gardening, and cheering on the Orioles and Ravens—but most importantly, in time spent with family. Family traditions meant the world to him, and he cherished shared meals, conversations, and the comfort of being surrounded by those he loved most. Gus also had a wonderful sense of humor and a playful spirit. He loved to instigate and tease those he cared about, always bringing laughter into the room and leaving people smiling. His presence brought warmth to every room, and his legacy will live on in the lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace in the presence of his Heavenly Father. Gus is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol Ann (Bauermann) Katsampis; his son, Michael Louis Katsampis, and daughter-in-law, Sheri Ellen Katsampis; his daughter, Constance Ann Leech, and son-in-law, Thomas Wayne Leech; his grandchildren, Danielle Marie Katsampis, Stephanie Anne Katsampis, Emily Genevieve Leech, and Michael Robert Louis Leech; and his great-grandchild, Cora Marika Forney. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Haight Funeral Home (6416 Sykesville Road) on Tuesday, April 7 from 6:00–8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Liberty Church PCA (11301 Liberty Road) on Wednesday, April 8 at 11:00 AM, with a luncheon to follow.
