Clifford "Cliff" Winston McCoy

Clifford “Cliff” Winston McCoy passed away on August 4, 2023, at the age of 81, at Autumn Lake Healthcare - Long View in Manchester, MD. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Cliff came out as a hero and stayed strong until the end. Cliff is predeceased by his parents, Robert McCoy and Ruth Minton Gaut, his beloved wife Marie and many beloved family and friends over the years. He is survived by his son, John (Denise) in Eldersburg, MD, whom he lived with, his daughter, Dina in Ocean Pines, MD, his son, Mark (Macon) in Elm City, NC, and the light of his lives, grandsons Nikolos McCoy in Eldersburg, MD and Kylan McCoy in Willards, MD, his sister Peggy in Jacksonville, NC and many nieces and nephews, friends and other family members. Cliff was born in Canton, Ohio. He served in the Army in Korea. He met Marie at Walter Reed, fell in love, and started a long, beautiful life together. He was an officer with the Laurel Police Department, an insurance agent, at his own agency with his son, John, and worked at many car dealerships in the area, in all factors of the industry. In his later years, he was the “Ralph Cramden” of Ocean City, driving the bus around town. Then he switched to Taxi Taxi, then Uber & Lyft, both in Ocean City and in the Baltimore area. He and his wife, Marie, lived in the Laurel area for over 30 years, and then in Westminster, with their daughter, Dina, before relocating to Ocean City. Cliff loved his family, above and beyond anything else. Whether it was hanging at the pool in Gullway, spending time with his boys, Nik & Kylan, watching his boys play ball and hanging out with the family over a friendly poker game. He enjoyed going to the turkey shoots with John, and later also with Nik. When his kids were younger, he attended every game and event he could. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 6 pm to 8pm at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD 21784. Services will be on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 10 am, with interment following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
