Christine Boner

Bertha Christine Boner was born on July 14, 1939 passed away January 30, 2026 peacefully at Casey House in Derwood, Maryland. Christine was born at Franklin Square Hospital Baltimore Maryland to Christian Howard Reickenbecker and Ella Clark Reichenbecker. She resided in Ellicott city Maryland with her great Aunt Bertha Loughran where both families lived together after her father had been displaced by fire at a young age when he resided in the Howard House in Ellicott city MD. Later the family moved to Catonsville Maryland and lived on Oakdale Avenue. Christine’s father was a distributor of wholesale goods and candy supplies whom serviced many of the small country stores throughout the Howard County Community. Christine attended Catonsville Elementary, Middle, Junior and Senior High School. To this day Christine remained close to her Childhood friend and room mate in college Brenda Mayer who maintains they never had an argument throughout this friendship. The family also attended Salem Lutheran Church in Ellicott city where she was later married. Christine attended Western Maryland College and William and Mary college graduating with Masters in Biology and Education. After college she began teaching at Woodlawn High School where she met her future husband Goswin who taught Chemistry. They were Married in 1965 and moved to Eldersburg Maryland shortly thereafter to start a family. The family began attending Messiah Lutheran Church, Christine whom loved to sing and play the piano, attended The Peabody Institute for voice lessons began to participate in the church choir, and ultimately led the Junior Choir for many years. Christine also sang at many weddings for friends and others while never accepting compensation just fulfillment from being able to participate. She was a proud member of the Carroll County Choral Arts Society. She paused her education career to raise the three boys, ultimately returning to provide education help in Carroll County to special needs students. She developed a close bond at the end of her teaching career with a student she assisted Amy Buswell, to this day she remained close and was always concerned how Amy and her mother were doing. Even when her memory started to fail and become clouded, she could always recognize Amy’s in a photograph. In 1965 Christine Married Goswin Boner from Potsdam Germany, she became enthralled with everything German. She was mesmerized by the Sound of Music and celebrated her Honeymoon traveling throughout Germany and Austria, where she visited Salzburg Austria and the many key filming locations of the musical. They had three sons while residing on Blue Spruce Drive in Eldersburg ,she is survived by sons Dr. Christian Goswin Bonner and Abby Bonner of Greenbackville, Virginia, granddaughter Sophia Grace Bonner of Charles Town West Virginia. Middle Son Erich Bonner and Anya Bonner of Woodbine, Maryland , granddaughters Emily Irene Bonner and Maria Ekaterina Bonner. And youngest son Daniel Alexander Boner of Eldersburg. Goswin passed July 11, 2024 they would have been married 61 years, and spent 59 years together. Christine was the love of Goswin’s life and always wondered how she could survive without him. She passed peacefully to Heaven to join Goswin. Christine also had a passion for animals and had many dogs throughout her long life. She was most proud of her grandchildren and hearing their names or seeing photos would always bring a smile to her face even during the most difficult times. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD 21784. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Messiah Lutheran Church. 5600 Old Washington Road, Sykesville, MD 21784. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park.
