Mr. Charles Edward Dell

Charles Edward Dell age 76 of Palm Harbor, FL Charles Edward Dell, 76 of Palm Harbor, FL, and formerly of Westminster, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, FL. Born February 27, 1935 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John H. and Margarite Dell. He was the husband of Nora Ruth Roberts Dell of Palm Harbor, FL. He was a 1952 graduate of Milford Mill. He then was employed by The C & P Telephone Company of Maryland. He retired after 35 years of service with C & P Telephone where he started as a mail clerk and ended as Plant Manager of Equipment Installation and Removal, covering various states. After retiring from C & P Telephone, he went to work for LISN Corporation for a few years before retiring to Florida permanently. He served in the Naval Reserves, stationed at Ft. McHenry, Baltimore, from May 1953 to May 1961 with the rank of SN. He received an honorable discharge on May 18, 1961. He was a member of the Optimist Club of Eldersburg, working with the Optimist football teams and games. He was also an active member of the Telephone Pioneers, where he was an active supporter of the local Special Olympics. Additionally, he managed and coached little league baseball teams for boys and girls in Eldersburg. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and sons-in-law Judie and Charlie Kapraun, Sandy and Brian O'Neil, and Tina Dell, grandchildren Heather Hunter and her husband Phil, Douglas O'Neil and his wife Lindsey, Jason O'Neil, and Courtney Kapraun, great grandchildren Sean Caudill, and Brianna Seymore, and brother and sister-in-law Jack and Jan Dell. He was predeceased by his great granddaughter Arabella Caudill. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville. Interment will be in LakeView Memorial Park, Sykesville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1-3 pm and 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family will be receiving contributions for a group donation to be sent to the "Telecom Pioneers Special Occasion Giving Program" to help with blind children.
