Mr. Bruce Thomas Wilson

Bruce T. Wilson 9/18/1954-2/24/2023 Bruce Thomas Wilson, of Eldersburg, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2023. Born on September 18, 1954, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Herbert Louis Wilson, Jr. and Ruth Pieper Wilson. After graduating from South Carroll High School in 1973, Bruce worked for a brief time as a machinist before beginning a 46-year-long career driving tractor trailers, a challenging but fulfilling journey that took him up, down, and across the United States and introduced him to people from all walks of life. Over the years, Bruce (also known by many as Crabcake) became particularly skilled at moving heavy equipment, especially construction and farm equipment. He had a knack for carefully organizing each haul, and he used his years of knowledge and experience to perfect his craft, constantly learning, strategizing, and improving his technique as he went. Some of Bruce’s most memorable adventures occurred and most cherished friendships were forged on the road during his years moving sound equipment across the country for acts including the Marshall Tucker Band, Dan Fogelberg, Manhattan Transfer, Anne Murray, and more. When he wasn’t on the road, Bruce loved to spend time watching his daughter Nicole’s horse shows, riding his Harley-Davidsons, playing his drums with friends, and listening to live music. Simply put, to know him was to love him. Bruce was warm, friendly, generous, patient, and kind. He was known for his humor, his boisterous personality, his wonderfully contagious (and very loud) laugh, and his infamous ponytail (of which he was very proud). He loved his family and friends, and he made sure they knew it. In his final weeks, Bruce was especially touched by all the people in his life who called and stopped by to see him. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his nephew James Connor Rousey. Surviving are his daughter, Nicole Wilson (Matt Cunningham); sister, Joy Gill (Thomas), granddaughter Harper Cunningham, nephews and nieces, Patrick Rousey, Justin Rousey, Daniel Gill, Kayleigh Friday (Christian), and Natalie Gill; former wife, Joyce Rill; cherished friend Sandy Leppo; and many, many friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 6-7 pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784. A celebration of life service will follow at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the BridgingLife Dove House Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157, or the American Cancer Society.
