Mr. Arthur Clinton Bruce Jr.

Mr. Arthur Clinton Bruce, Jr., 61, of Mount Airy, MD passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017. "Otts", as he was lovingly referred to by all who knew him, was born on April 28th, 1955 in Baltimore, MD. He was the sonof the late Arthur C. and Sadie C. Bruce. Otts grew up in Huntingtown, MD and graduated from Calvert Senior High School. After graduation, Otts enlisted in the U.S. Navy on the "buddy system" with his lifelong friend, Dean White, and proudly served his country as a Machinest Mate aboard the Saratoga and Roosevelt air craft carriers. For a time, Otts served aboard the same ship as his brother, Gary, during a Mediterranean cruise, an assignment he especially cherished. After his Navy service, Otts joined ABC News as an Engineer in Washington, DC where he remained employed for the next 36 years until the time of his passing. A gifted mechanic, Otts quickly rose through the ranks and eventually attained the position of Chief Engineer and Head of Facilities of the Washington DC Bureau. Otts is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 40 years, Terrie, and his beloved children Niccole and Brian Bruce, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his paternal uncle Edward Bruce of Dundalk, MD, his brother Gary Bruce and wife, Sue of Mount Airy, his brother Steve and his wife, Myrna of Lusby, MD. In addition, Otts had many nieces and nephews including Michael, Vicky, Kim, Johnny, Steven, Sidney, Joshua, Kurt, Sarah, Christopher, and Katie. He was predeceased by his sisters Florence Lantner and Barbara Bradley, his brother George Thompson, and his niece Kimberly Evans. He was also survived and loved by his soon to be daughter-in-law Sam Siegrist, numerous great nieces and nephews and extended family. Otts' mechanical talents were not limited to his workplace. If it was mechanical, Otts could fix it and often provided his services to his family and friends in his well-equipped garage. He filled his days spending time hunting, fishing, crabbing, camping and relaxing by the pool. Everyone who knew him will fondly remember the many cookouts, crab feasts, camping trips, and endless games of horseshoes and corn hole. Otts will be missed by all who knew him, but above all he will be remembered for his steely blue eyes, his big bright smile, and his zest for life. His family would like to especially thank the hunting friends who worked valiantly to save his life last weekend: Gary Bruce, John Glovier, Frank and Mary Szita, and Bryan Miller. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on February 4th at The American Legion in Mount Airy, MD at 2pm. Please come as you are, this is an informal affair at Otts' request.
