Mrs. Sandra L. Keefer

June 28, 1948 - January 11, 2021

Sandra L. Keefer, age 72, of Sykesville, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021, at Carroll Hospital. Born June 28, 1948, in Hanover, PA she was the daughter of the late Joseph Staup and Rhoda Cooney Staup. She was the wife of the late Michael D. Keefer, Sr. who passed in 2007. Sandra worked as a beautician many years ago. As her family began to grow she then worked in family child care. When her children were older she went to work at Roy Rogers in Eldersburg and Westminster where she served as a manager. When her late husband's health began to fail Sandra retired to take care of him and love her grandchildren and children. Sandra loved going to the racetrack with her family. When the family was younger they enjoyed going to carnivals and amusement parks. In recent years she enjoyed spending time at local Community Senior Centers where she would express her love of art by making memorable keepsakes for her loved ones. She is survived by son Michael D. Keefer, Jr. and his wife Kelly Gist Keefer of Westminster; daughters: Michele Keefer Wood, Melissa Keefer and Marsha Keefer all of Sykesville, brother Joseph Staup and Sister-in-law Penny Staup of Westminster, her best friend and beloved sister-in-law Nina Jacobs and husband Tony and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by nine grandchildren Sabrina, Ashley, Emily, Daniel, Leslie, Addison, Michael III, Weston and Braelynn. She also leaves behind her three beloved Chihuahuas Peanut, Pete and Prissy. She was predeceased by sister, Shawn Staup Plunkert and Brother-in-law Billy Plunkert. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:30am at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2716 Old Washington Road, Westminster, MD. Masks will be required and social distancing observed. At a later time there will be a Celebration of Life organized by her Children.
