Rosa Lee King Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

After a long battle with lung cancer, Rosa Lee King, of Woodstock, Maryland, passed away on October 26, 2021. She passed in the loving care of her son, Christopher. Rosa was born in Manning, South Carolina to Thomas and Evelyn Robinson. She graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Maryland. She continued her education at Morgan State University where she earned B.A. and M.A . degrees. She began pursuing a Ph.D., but stopped to care for her husband, Roland, during his final illness. Rosa married Roland King on September 9, 1967. Their union was blessed with one child, Christopher. Rosa worked for the federal government, primarily in the Office of Information Systems at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. At the time of her retirement in 2010, after 32 years of service, she was a Contracting Officer’s Representative for IT Systems. Rosa was a member of Zeta Phi Beta sorority. She loved to read, garden, and play Bunko. She also enjoyed exercising, including yoga, walking, and working out at the gym. Rosa was preceded in death by her husband Roland King; her parents, Thomas and Evelyn Robinson; and siblings, Willie Mood Robinson, Charles Robinson, Western Robinson, and Louletha Robinson. Rosa is survived by her son, Christopher, grandsons, Alexander King, Aiden King, granddaughter, Dominique Powell, sister, Alretha Robinson, and cousin, Hazel Moorer. She leaves to mourn Peggy Brice (Christopher) and her son, Dylan and a host of family and friends. Rosa’s family wishes to extend our sincere appreciation for Rosa’s “gym rat”/caregivers, Terri Ceravolo, Nellie Hutt, Claudia Danner and Rose Salloum. We also wish to thank the Visiting Angels and Gilchrest Hospice for their professional and compassionate care. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 6-8pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville, MD 21784. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment in Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore.
