Mrs. Marilyn Joan Duffy Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Marilyn Joan Duffy, age 85 Years, of Eldersburg, MD, passed away at home on March 11,2022 with her beloved husband by her side. Joan was born March 4, 1937, in Weston, WV, the loving daughter of Hayden and Almeda Perkey. Joan graduated high school in California where she enjoyed her love of Sky Diving, jumping 11 times from 3,000 feet. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Alanon. She worked 30 years as an insurance adjuster for State Farm and Farmers Insurance companies. She was compassionate and kind with a great love for animals. She loved all animals especially her two beautiful cats, Zoey and Jeni. Joan married George Edward Duffy in 1966, and were happily married for 55 years. During this time George and Joan were able to visit many European countries while stationed in Italy three years. Their sons, Brian and Shawn enjoyed many happy times there. Joan was a loving Mother and is survived by son, Shawn Patrick Duffy and wife Laura, of New Market, MD. She was a proud Grandmother of Tommy and James Duffy and granddaughter Amber and three great-grandchildren, and a beloved sister to Janice Gum of Summerville, WV. She was preceded in death by their loving son, Brian Keith Duffy who died in a tragic plane crash. Joan was a twin and her twin brother Marion was deceased at birth. She also lost another brother, Hayden Perkey. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3pm on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.
