Katherine B. Dorsey

August 27, 1938 - February 16, 2022

Katherine Beatrice Randolph Dorsey received her Crown in Glory on February 16, 2022, with her husband, Frank, by her side. Kate was born on August 27, 1938, to the late Arthur Randolph Sr. and Frances Dorsey Randolph in Montgomery County, Maryland. She received her education in the Montgomery County Public School System graduating from Rockville High School. She received her Christian education at Pleasant Grove Community Church in Damascus, Maryland. Kate met and later married Frank Dorsey on Christmas Eve in 1955. The next 67 years included joining Mt. Gregory U. M. Church, working side-by-side in their cleaning business, and building their first home. Though they were not blessed with biological children of their own, they became loving 'stand-in parents' to nephews Leon (Bug), Rick and Carlton Dorsey and great-niece Tasha Dorsey Cook and her son, Alante'. Godson Charles (Bo) had his own special place at their table, and still does. Upon retirement, Kate continued to nurture family members whenever needed. She was a devoted Communion Steward and Usher at Mt. Gregory, as well as, Chief Cook and Bottle Washer, at every church picnic and dinner. She was a member of the original Cooksville Community Singers. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Arthur Jr., sister Margaret and nephews Bug and Rick. Fond memories remain with her husband Frank; brothers Mitchell and Wayne Randolph; sisters­-in-law Hollis Dorsey, Sara Dorsey, and Mary Graham; Godsons Charles Dorsey and Derek Randolph; special nieces Alicyn (Frannie) Hill and Tasha Dorsey Cook; numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends who loved her dearly. All of us felt special! The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 2 to 4ppm at Mt. Gregory United Methodist Church, Cooksville where a Homegoing Service will be held on Monday at 11am. Interment will follow in Bushy Park Cemetery, Cooksville.
