Mr. Jared Michael Lutz

Jared Michael Lutz, 33, of Eldersburg/Sykesville, Maryland, passed on Jan. 12, 2022, and now resides in Heaven. He was the amazing son of Brandon and Barbara, brother to Caitlin, brother-in-law to Tom, grandson to Grammi (Elizabeth) and Nana (Judy), nephew to JoAnne and Russ, and cousin to Seth, Jeremy and Tori. He was preceded in death by his Grandad (Jimmy) and Grampa (Woody). He also leaves behind his two pups, Bowden and Fisher, and Frank Asare, who was his amazing caregiver for 12 years. Jared was born in Wiesbaden, Germany while his dad served in the Air Force. His dad always says Jared was the best birthday present he ever received. Throughout his life, Jared loved sports. He played soccer, baseball, pole-vaulted, and javelin, but honestly, there wasn’t a sport he didn’t enjoy either playing or watching. His favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves, Florida State Seminoles, Arsenal FC and Washington Redskins. He also loved everything Star Wars, reading graphic novels, playing video games, and, like his dad, watching TV shows and sporting events. His music catalog was eclectic: Blink 182, Aerosmith, RHCP and the Drop Kick Murphys. Red was his favorite color because he said, “It’s in my name, so I have to love it!” Jared graduated from Liberty High School in 2006 and received his honorary degree from McDaniel College in 2012, pursuing a degree in Mathematics and History. Our brave warrior fought a long, hard battle and finally won his new body. We thank you all for each and every prayer you’ve given to our Lord on his behalf. There are so, so many special people to thank for who helped him over the years. Caregivers, nurses, doctors, therapists and friends made it possible for him to live at home with us and gave him opportunities to strengthen and grow. Our world is a much better place because he was in it. Jared leaves a legacy of compassion and hope behind, where we all have seen how he proved so many doctors wrong about what they said he’d never be able to do. If you didn't know Jared personally or hadn't seen him lately, you have truly missed an incredible display of strength, determination and most of all, God's love. Even at the end, everyone marveled at the warrior they saw before them. It is our hope that Jared's life has inspired people to get to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior because every day we drew our strength from Him. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022, from 1 - 3 pm at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD where a funeral will follow at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House. A scholarship will also be created in his name to assist students going into the nursing profession.
