Hazel M. McLaughlin

March 15, 1936 - January 15, 2022

Hazel M. McLaughlin, age 85, of Finksburg, MD went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Birch Manor Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Sykesville, MD. Born on March 15, 1936, in Bakersville, NC she was the daughter of the late Nimpson and Dona Gouge. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Joseph H. McLaughlin who passed away in 1977. She was also predeceased by sisters Edith Carver, Virginia Gouge, Joy Gouge, Jessie Byrd, Edna Hoyle, Georgia Bennett, and brother Jack Gouge. Hazel was a member of Westminster Baptist Church and previously she had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Airy. Attending church, spreading the word and being there for those who needed her most was her life’s mission. She routinely visited those who were ill or needed comfort. She loved her church and her church family. Left to cherish her memories are daughter, Carolyn A. McLaughlin; daughter Patricia L. McLaughlin Ott; son Edward J. McLaughlin and his wife Arlene; grandchildren Rick W. Stephens, Darren J. McLaughlin, and Deidre L. Greene; and great grandchild Marissa M. Stephens. She loved her family and nothing brought her more joy than the moments when the family was together. Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please be kind to someone.
