Harry F. Deegan Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Harry F. Deegan, Jr. of Sykesville, Maryland went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on December 31, 2021. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on January 4, 1942. After graduation, he joined the Marine Corps, and served his country proudly for 4 years. After his service, he graduated from the University of New Haven cum laude in Business Administration. He worked for several accounting firms in Connecticut, and came to Baltimore, MD as the result of a job transfer and promotion. He then worked for various firms to gain diversified accounting experience. He came to Orndorff and Spaid in 1989, as a Controller/Accountant, and not only loved the job, but also the family members who owned the business. He was still working part-time there up to the time of his death. Harry loved to talk to people about the Lord, and brought 400 plus, at last count, to accept Jesus Christ. His other great love was the family Golden Doodle. Harry enjoyed reading the Bible, listening to the Beatles, watching British television, walking the dogs, reading historical fiction books, and vacationing in the South. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Helen Wilhelm, and sister, Barbara Deegan. Surviving are his brothers, Robert and Wayne Deegan; three children, Michael Deegan, Kelly Deegan, and Brian Deegan; two grandchildren, Madison Deegan Szczygielski (Dan), and Jared Deegan. He was married to Marilynn in 1999, and had four step-daughters. They are Jodi Bachmann Short (Chad), Nicole Bachmann-Jones (the late Robert), Melissa Bachmann-Blake (Richard), and Amanda Bachmann-Leverett (Brett); along with step-grandsons, Jason Jones, Adam Jones, and Bryce Leverett. He also had many nieces and nephews. With deep appreciation and great thanks, contributions may be made to the Church of the Open Door in Westminster, Maryland. A memorial service will be held at The Church of the Open Door on April 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
