Glenn Melvin Hendrickson of Wellsville, PA, 84, entered peacefully into eternal rest with the Lord on July 18 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA, surrounded by loving family. He was born to the late Henry Wilmer Hendrickson and Helmi Karppinen Hendrickson on March 14. 1937, Nisula, MI. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Aletha Staunton Hendrickson, daughter Rachel Margaret Hendrickson, stepdaughters Christina Marie and the late Theresa Marion Gould, and foster daughter Rose Marie. He is predeceased by brothers Kenneth and Sheldon Hendrickson, and sisters Janet Smith and Ethel McGarey. He is survived by Violet Butler, and Jimmy and Clyde Hendrickson as well as numerous nieces and nephew and grandchildren. Of Finnish heritage (original name Juntunen), Glenn enjoyed life on small farms all his life, raising cows, steers, donkeys, poultry, pigs, peacocks, geese, sheep, and goats. He exhibited Borzoi, Turkish Angoras, and was an expert groomer of show cats. He also devoted many years to humane work, One of his favorite fundraisers was as judge of children’s pet shows where he awarded ribbons to ducklings, kittens, and baby reptiles. Most of his volunteer work was in the Lutheran church as dedicated elder, teacher of children of all ages, and Sunday School Superintendent. He aided church programs in Westminster, Lisbon, and Baltimore, MD, and served on many professional and charitable committees. He once traveled to the Bahamas just to aid a missions group in setting up their accounting systems. He more recently served in the Chaplain’s office in Bethany Village as Bible study leader. Although on the quiet side, Glenn was a favorite performance artist with doo wop group Jammin’ Jellies at annual church talent shows. Glenn graduated from Suomi College, University of Michigan, and Frostburg State University, and served in the US Army for 3 years, He earned his CPA. Masters in the Science of Management, and worked as a CPA in private practice for over 50 years, Consistent with his life of service, please omit flowers as Glenn requested memorials to benefit New Hope Ministries.
