Robert J. Miller

Robert John Miller, age 86, of Westminster, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at home. He was born October 17, 1935, in Mora, MN to the late Leo Joseph Miller and Mary Agnes Elfert Miller. He was the loving husband of Anita "Sue" Hayes Miller, to whom he was married for 60 years. Bob was a graduate of St. John's University, Collegeville, MN, where he received a Bachelor's of Science degree. He went on to have a long career with the Social Security Administration from which he retired. Bob had a love of music where he sang and led the choir at Holy Family Catholic Church, Randallstown, for 40 years. Bob's love and support of community led him to many years serving in the Freedom District Lions Club and South Carroll Lions Club. He was a life member of the Lions Club International. In his years of service with the Lions Club, Bob held the positions of Club President, Treasurer, Region Chair and District 22-W Governor. He was a 4 time Melvin Jones Fellow awardee and also received the Lions International Presidential Award. Bob was instrumental in starting the Preschool Vision Screening Program. He participated in the student mentor program at Freedom Elementary School in Eldersburg for 3 years. He and his wife Sue lived in Eldersburg for many years until they moved to Carroll Lutheran Village, Westminster, 2 1/2 years ago. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters Michele M. Stipe, husband David, of Lititz, PA, and Rosalie A. Miller of Hagerstown; brother Eugene Miller of MN and sister Marion Stark of MN; grandchildren Jacquelyn Karmilowicz (husband Brandon), Joshua Stipe, Jennifer Claffey (husband Victor) and Joseph Stipe; and great-grandchildren Haedyn, Calum and Teagan. He was predeceased by daughter Kathleen Susan Miller, who died in 1979. Bob was also predeceased by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5pm on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD where a funeral service will be held at 10am on Monday, July 18, 2022. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Randallstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Carroll Lioness Lions Club, P.O.
