Robert J. Koleszar

Robert Joseph Koleszar, 81, of Sykesville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Carroll Hospital Center. He was born on May 21, 1943, in New Jersey, to the late George Koleszar and Alice Nugent Koleszar. Bob was predeceased by his first wife Eileen Lalka Koleszar who died in 2010. He was the husband of Elizabeth Pallan, M.D. Bob was a graduate of Rutgers University and remained active in their alumni association. He had a long career in the insurance industry, working as an underwriter, then in property and casualty and ultimately as an independent contractor. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Community, Eldersburg, where he sang in the choir. He also served in the St. Alphonsus Rodriguez Catholic Church Choir in years past. Bob was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #7612. He enjoyed music, politics, reading and the Baltimore Orioles. Bob also volunteered his time with Gilchrist Hospice's bereavement ministry for the past 14 years and was devoted to the Christian jail ministry. Surviving in addition to his wife are son and daughter-in-law Scott and Lauren Koleszar of Sykesville; step-sons and their spouses: Davis and Cindy Pallan, Joseph and Rose Pallan and John and Divya Pallan; grandchildren: Ryan Koleszar, Brayden Koleszar and Lyric Letmate and step-grandchildren: Emily, Max, Mia, Thomas, William, Serena, Matthew and Miriam Pallan. He was predeceased by his son Timothy J. Koleszar and brothers George and Thomas Koleszar. Friends may call from 2 to 5pm on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD. A Catholic funeral mass will be held at 10 AM on Monday, January 13, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, MD followed by a reception at the church. Interment will be at Springfield Cemetery, 7300 Spout Hill Road, Sykesville, MD at 2pm on Monday, January 13, 2025.
