Mr. Robert "Bob" James Semin

Robert "Bob" James Semin, age 85, of Sykesville, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024, Fairhaven Health Care Center surrounded by his family. Born November 27, 1938 in Omaha, NE, he was the son of the late Frank Rudolph and Celeste Marie (Becker) Semin. He was the husband of 62 years to Elaine Rae Semin. Bob grew up in a loving home with his parents and three siblings in Omaha, NE, or as he’d call it, “God’s country.” He attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln on a baseball scholarship and studied electrical engineering. He worked at Westinghouse / Northrop Grumman for 46 years. Bob met his wife Elaine in Pittsburgh, PA and they were married for 62 years. They settled in Woodlawn, MD, where they lived for over 25 years before moving to Eldersburg, MD. Bob and Elaine enjoyed all sorts of travel, and made it to all 50 states. Bob was a family man devoted to his wife, and his daughters and their families. He was an all-weather spectator at their sporting activities, and never missed a music concert, theater show or scouting activity. You could always count on him to smile for pictures at birthdays, graduations, proms and special occasions. He always wanted to know “what’s next!”. A man of faith, Bob was Godfather and confirmation sponsor to many. He lived what he believed, which showed in the joy he shared with everyone he met. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Mike Bruns, Ginny and Jeff Alascio, Terri and Mike Fleishell, and Lorri and Jonathan Holda; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Mary Ann Semin; grandchildren, Zach Bruns and wife Lindsay, Austin Bruns and fiancee, Christine Regan, Megan (Alascio) Nordwig and husband Aric, Spencer Alascio, Casey Fleishell, Andrew Fleishell, Abby Fleishell, Madeline Holda, Ian Holda, and Nicholas Holda. He was predeceased by siblings Frank and Marge Semin. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 2 to 5 PM at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 10 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Sykesville where a luncheon will directly follow the mass at the church in the Chaminade Center.
