Mrs. Peggy Ann Babylon

Peggy Ann Babylon, age 83, of Sykesville, passed peacefully from this world on Saturday, January 8th, 2022 from complications due to dementia at Angel's Touch Assisted Living with her loving caregivers at her side. Born April 22, 1938, in Reisterstown, she was the devoted wife of 65 years to Donald Lee Babylon. Peggy graduated from Franklin High School in Reisterstown, and shortly thereafter married Donald, the love of her life, whom she met at a dancehall. While Donald was in the Navy she followed him to his port of call in Massachusetts and wrote many love letters to him while he was out to sea. After his tour was completed, they moved back to Maryland to be near family. She spent almost 20 years working for Springfield Hospital Center in Sykesville, Md. Peggy loved her family and enjoyed camping, sewing, needlecrafts, working in the garden and reading. Her retirement years also included many winters in Florida and regular gambling trips to Charlestown WVA. Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Raymond Hild and Pamela and Michael Trumpler; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and George Norris; brother John Gill; grandchildren, Lauren Anderson and husband Clay, Lyndsey Phillips and wife Kim, Raymond "RJ" Hild, Jr., Kristen Bacon and husband David, and Melissa Cyford and husband Andrew; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Declen, Lochlen, Adeline, Benjamin, Ryan and Luke; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eugene and Judy Babylon, sister in law Regina Babylon and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Roy Edward Gill, Sr and Olivia Elizabeth Kerchner Gill as well as her eldest brother Roy E Gill, Jr and wife Elieen, sister-in-law Christina, wife of her brother John. The family extends their warmest gratitude to Gilchrist Hospice, especially nurse Erin, who provided amazing care and counsel during her final months. A private service and interment are being held due to Covid-19. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later date when it is safe to gather. Please refer back to this site for information.
