Mrs. Mary Edith Holley Klug Amerson

Mary Edith Holley Klug Amerson, 82, went to be with the Lord, gaining her heavenly reward on February 15, 2025, in Nitro, WV. She was born on January 8, 1943, to the late Rubin E. Holley and Katie Mae (Brooks) Holley. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Eugene V. Klug, Jr., daughter, Sharon Dawn Klug Santmyer; grandson, Erik Victor Klug; and brother, Lamar Holley. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Calvin Amerson; son, Eugene V. Klug III (Wanda), of Sitka, KY; daughters, Mary Kathryn Neese (Stephen) of Nitro, WV; Kimberly Rena Ryan (Tim) of Kalamazoo, MI; son-in-law, Richard Santmyer, Jr. of Conowingo, MD; goddaughter, Victoriaus Rippin (Michael); grandchildren, Mary Lynne DeMuth (John); Stephen L. Neese, Jr. (Lindsay); Mason R. Klug; Emily L. Santmyer, Nathan Eugene Neese (Alexis); Katie M. Neese; Hannah M. Klug; Richard W. Santmyer III; David P. Santmyer; Michael Klug; Mary A. Klug; Mya J. Klug; great grandchildren, Joseph Neese; Mackenzie DeMuth; Landon DeMuth, Stephen L. Neese, III; Mackenna DeMuth, Emrik Klug; Levi DeMuth; Nathan E. Neese II; stepchildren, Romie Amerson, Wesley Amerson; Amber Amerson; step grandchildren, Sarah Dickey, Billy Dickey; Michael, Kiaria, Bethany, Kaylee, Bruce Jr; sister, Elizabeth Ross; brothers, Howard Holley; Daniel Holley; half siblings, Hollilynn (Ray) Garrard; Flora Holley; Rubin E. Holley, Jr; and a host of other precious cousins, nieces, nephews, family and lifetime friends. She was born and grew up in Milton, FL. While working at Chemstrand, she attended night school which is where she met Eugene Klug. She was married to Rev. Eugene V. Klug, Jr., for 49 1/2 years. Together, they raised four children, pastored the United Pentecostal Church in Glen Burnie, MD for over 25 years. She taught for a few years at Essex Christian Academy in Essex, MD when her children were all school age. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, then she worked for several years at the Salvation Army in Elliott City, MD. They moved to WV for several years attending the Summit Church in St. Albans, WV, then back to MD, attending the Pentecostals of York, PA, until her husband, Eugene, passed in 2012. She then met and married Calvin Amerson and moved to the warmer climate of Covington, LA; while attending the Pentecostals of Lee Road, in LA, where she made many friends. Her last several months were spent in WV with her daughter, Kathy, caring for her while surrounded by many family members. Those who knew her, knew Jesus was the most important thing in every respect of her life. She loved God with all her heart, and they also knew that she was a social butterfly after 10 pm. Always the night owl. She loved spending time with her family and making multiple visits to the ones out of state each year. She tried to be at every grandchild and great grandchild’s birth. Her greatest joys were watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren serve the Lord. She enjoyed being on Facebook and connecting with her childhood friends, her siblings, cousins, and her newer friends. She was a great baker, and her cakes were always so pretty and they were the first to sell at church bake sales. Bookkeeping and teaching Sunday School classes came like second nature to her. She complemented any song with her beautiful alto voice. She loved doing crossword puzzles and word searches in her spare time. In her later years, she doted on the chickens her son, Victor, had brought to her and enjoyed growing her own fresh vegetables. The last almost three months was difficult because she did not remember her family at times, but as long as she had breath, she never forgot her first love, the love of her lifetime, Jesus Christ! The family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 1 PM to 2 PM at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD 21784 where a funeral service will follow at 2 PM. Interment to follow at Lake View Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784. Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca, WV and Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, Sykesville, MD have been entrusted with the arrangements.
