Mrs. JoAnne V. Murphy

JoAnne Viola Murphy (Hopkins/Kerbe), of York, PA passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on February 6, 1948, in Baltimore, MD to the late Joseph Kerbe and Dolores White (Phipps). She was the loving wife of 25 years of the late Irving Hopkins, Jr., and the late Earl Stockslager. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, James (Jim) Murphy of Baltimore, MD. JoAnne was raised in Baltimore, MD, before moving to Westminster, MD where she raised her three daughters. She was a dedicated mother, stayed at home to care for her children in their early years, volunteered in the school and church, and served as a Brownie Troop leader when her girls were young. She returned to her professional career as a medical office manager before retiring and living between Harpers Ferry, WV and Honolulu, HI. Joanne and Jim later settled in York, PA to spend time with their grandchildren. JoAnne had a love for playing Bingo, taking long walks along the streets in Waikiki, date nights with her loving husband (and Tom Selleck) watching “Blue Bloods,” and expressing her love for her children and grandchildren through unexpected packages and gifts. She made friends wherever she went and was loved by all. She is survived by daughter Michelle Hopkins, daughter in law, Dawn Hopkins, and grandchildren Aiden, Micaela and Jaxon; her daughter Lisa Hopkins, son-in-law Borislav Stoev and grandsons Zachary and Lucas; and daughter Jaime Hopkins, son-in-law Clayton Shane, and granddaughters Emmalani and Reia. She is also survived by four stepchildren Kathleen Campbell, Kevin Murphy, Keith Murphy and Kellie Marquardt and their families. The family will receive friends from 2-5pm on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD. The funeral service will be held in the same location at 10am on Monday February 5, with interment to follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2150 Mt. View Rd, Marriottsville, MD 21104.
