Jennifer Anne McElgunn

Jennifer Anne McElgunn, age 68, of Catonsville, passed away in hospice care early Sunday, February 8th, 2026, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. She was born November 23,1957 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Richard Cornelius Weibel and Jane Elizabeth (O'Meara) Weibel. Jennifer was a fierce friend, a loving sister, a doting grandmother, a devoted mom of three uniquely distinct children, and a second mom fondly known as “Miss Jenny” to not only their friends and neighborhood, but to bereft members of the community she welcomed into her care, and to every dog, cat, gerbil, hamster, horse, rabbit, goldfish, and hermit crab she and her daughter Leah smuggled home. The doors of her heart and home were open to all. She had a gift for noticing the small things: a new haircut, fresh nails, a good effort, a hard day, a faltering smile. She always seemed to have a kind word, a vested interest, a thoughtful compliment ready at the right moment and delivered with her unexpected humor. Her joy was found in simple pleasures. She loved friendly competition and the way a shared game could turn an ordinary evening into a memory. Her garden and interior decorating brought her peace and purpose. Her gift-giving knew no bounds; her generosity no edges. She leaves behind more than just a grieving community; she leaves an everlasting example of warmth, integrity, and everyday grace. The love she gave all of us so freely will continue to grow, like the gardens she tended, in the lives of those who knew her; an enduring imprint that leaves the world more nourished than before. Her survivors include her sons, John Stockton and fiancée Briana Reardon, and Jason Stockton and wife Kelly; grandchildren, Audrey and Addison Stockton; siblings, Carolyn D. Weibel “Ricky Linton,” Matthew R. Weibel “Lisa,” Bruce E. Weibel “Angela,” Mary E. Hughes, and Margaret J. Prigga “James”; sister-in-law, Faye Weibel; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces. She was predeceased by her daughter, Leah Christine McElgunn, and brother, John G. Weibel. For celebrations, it was Jennifer’s express wish that all attending please wear bright colors. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 915 Liberty Road, Sykesville. Interment to follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville.
