Gregory David Dickerson

Gregory David Dickerson, 75, of Sykesville, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 23, 2023, at his home. He was born December 5, 1947, in Baltimore, MD to the late Howard Bernard Dickerson, Jr. and Dorothy L. (Edelman) Dickerson. He was the devoted husband of the late Katherine Elizabeth (Malatesta) Dickerson, who died in 2020. Greg was a proud graduate of Mt. St. Joseph High School, class of 1965. He then worked various jobs at Montgomery Ward, Adams Russell, and Control Cable. He went on to have a long career as a Benefits Authorizer with the Social Security Administration until his retirement. Greg was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where he had coached girls basketball and was a member and Past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, St. Charles Borromeo Council. He loved science fiction books and movies and from a young age was a member of a the Science Fiction Book Club, collecting hundreds of books. Greg had many hobbies some which included his love of classic cars, wood carving, listening to music (everything from classical to 60's Motown) and loved dancing, especially with his wife, Kathy. He was a devoted husband and caregiver to his late wife. He loved Christmas, his three daughters, and giving his grandchildren bear hugs. He is survived by daughters Cindy Ardissone and husband Jon of Westminster, Barbara "Bobbie" Dickerson and partner Casey Severn of Halethorpe, and Stephanie Connole and husband Tim of Thurmont, brother Howard B. "Bernie" Dickerson, III, sister Diane (Dickerson) Laposay, and grandchildren Lucy, Max, and Maggie Mae Connole. He was predeceased by sister Barbara Lee (Dickerson) Giles. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9531 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD 21133. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville, MD.
