Mr. George William Warden

George William Warden passed to his heavenly family and our friend Jesus on Saturday, June 28, 2025. He is predeceased by his parents, George and Edith Warden. He leaves behind his wife, Lois, and "sweetie" of 49 years (George said 50 years). Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Michael Warden and Ronald Warden and wife Donna; and daughter, Judith Vega and husband Chip. He was also a second father and survived by daughters; Denise Golden Raley and Diane Branham and husband Sidney; the stars in his eyes - 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Pat Warden and Vivian Warden; and many nieces and nephews. George was survived by many friends and was blessed to call his neighbors friends, especially, Mike and Leslie Macgruder, Sue Dickey, and Charles Colson. He was predeceased by his two brothers and sister-in-law, Robert "Bob" Warden and Carol Warden, and William "Bill" Warden. In the service to his country, George enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was stationed in New York, Colorado, Georgia, California, Japan, South Korea, and Florida. In Illinois, he worked for Magnovox as a civilian on the Red Eye Ordinance Infrared Project designing the FIM-92 Stringer, a man-portable air-defense system (shoulder launched) that operated as an infrared homing surface-to-air missile. He moved to Arbutus, Maryland in 1963 to work for the Naval Ordinance Laboratory in White Oak, Maryland. George retired in 1989 after 32 years. In his spare time, George enjoyed fishing, boating, going on cruises with friends, using his engineering skills when renovating their farm in Ellicott City, as well as fixing everything. In their retirement, he and Lois spent 22 years volunteering at Carroll County Hospital (LifeBridge). In 2023, George and Lois received recognition as Volunteers of the Year in the Baltimore's Daily Record. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 10 AM to 11 AM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 7538 Main Street, Sykesville, MD 21784 where a funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville. Pallbearers are Brandon and Austin Branham, Chris and Mike Warden, Robbie Warden, Chip Vega, Ryan Raley, and Mark Dale. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to BridgingLife's Hospice Care, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157 or St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
