Mrs. Doris Elaine Case

Doris E. Case (née Mason), 80, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at her Ellicott City home on Friday, July 21, 2017. Doris is survived by her devoted husband Bill, with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage in May. Doris is also survived by her daughters Laura Case, and Tracey McNamara and husband Michael; grandchildren Tim Cullison and wife Gina, Jon Cullison and wife Kate, Caitlin Pellant and husband Nick, Patrick McNamara, Kevin McNamara, Erin Case, Amy Cullison, Sara Case and Will Case; 2 great-grandchildren Charles Pellant and Francesca Cullison; brother Bob Mason and wife Joyce, brother-in-law Al Gates and many nieces and nephews. Doris was the daughter of the late William and Florence Mason (née Sweet) of Riverdale, Maryland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Michael Case, sister Barbara Gates and brother Raymond Mason. Doris worked for the Howard County Public School System for 18 years as school secretary at Lisbon and Waverly Woods Elementary Schools and was a mentor to many during her time at the Board of Education. She delighted in spending time with family and friends, gardening, needlework projects and playing Mahjong and Bridge. Doris and Bill enjoyed time at their beach home, camping and many travels near and far. A consummate hostess, she loved to entertain and share family favorite recipes. Doris will always be remembered as a true lady with a wonderful smile and generous spirit. The family is grateful to Gilchrest Hospice and Doris’ in-home care provider, Carolyn Queen, for the care and attention they provided. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 2875 Bethany Lane, Ellicott City, MD 21042. The family will receive friends and visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. just prior to the service. A luncheon will immediately follow at a local restaurant.
