Mrs. Diane Cooper

Diane Denis Cooper entered into eternal rest on April 8, 2016 in Eldersburg Maryland after a series of long term illnesses. Diane was the youngest of three children born to Angel Fernandez Denis and Dorothy Stanford. Diane was a leap year baby born on February 29, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of 12, she lost her mother and was raised by her father, a traveling Merchant Marine and her mother’s sister, Aunt Edna. Diane’s Aunt Edna raised Diane, her brother, Fred and sister, Carmen to adulthood. A generation later, in keeping with her kind and nurturing spirit, Diane relocated Aunt Edna from New York to Maryland and cared for her until her death in 1991. Growing up in Brooklyn NY, Diane loved life and people. She was known as a beautiful person, both inside and outside. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling and laughter, will never be forgotten. Diane excelled in her commercial studies at Manual Training High School in Brooklyn and worked as an Executive Secretary at the New York City Housing Authority and later at Bendix Engineering after relocating to Maryland . In Brooklyn, Diane was a beloved member of Bethany Baptist Church where she was united in holy matrimony to her husband Everett Melvin Cooper on September 27,1975. After relocating to Maryland, she and Everett were blessed with birth of their son and only child, Everett Melvin Cooper II., 1977. In Maryland, Diane was a devoted and active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Always clutching to Faith, Family and Friends, for many years Diane was a faithful and loving caretaker to all in her charge, including her husband of 41years who passed on June 8, 2015. Diane loved her son and her grandchildren and shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. She often and joyfully spoke of her son and grandchildren saying “my greatest treasures call me Grandma.” Diane's love for family led her to create an extensive on-line family tree in 2000 which has become a meeting place for her family to share photos, videos and stories and organize family events: www.myheritage.com/stanford family tree. Diane was proud of her role as the family historian as an opportunity to share and celebrate her heritage and legacy. Cherishing many wonderful memories are: her son Everett II, her grandchildren Chardonnay (Diane’s dearest companion), Everett III(Diane’s star athlete), and Cannon (Diane’s family charmer), her brother Fred Denis of Puerto Rico and Florida, her sister Carmen Davis of Marietta, Georgia and Judy Stewart of Brooklyn, NY along with a host of other cousins, nephews, nieces, in-laws, friends and neighbors. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Luke UMC, 350 River Road, Sykesville. Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 12:30 PM. We will always miss and love her dearly. Lovingly submitted.
