Mr. Craig H. Shotwell

Craig Harold Shotwell, age 54 of Owings Mills, died tragically on Monday, May 7, 2018 in Brookeville, MD. Born August 15, 1963 in VA, he was the son of the late Jack and Mary Shotwell. The greatest love and joy of Craig’s life was his children Elizabeth, Alise and Ethan. All he did, he did for them. He was known by so many to drop things at a moments notice and to lend a helping hand in all things. Especially for family. He loved his family and friends passionately. He saw the gifts in each of his family. And loved his nieces and nephews like they were his own children. He loved nature and spent many hours exploring the woods with Alise and Ethan catching and releasing all creatures great and small! The Florida Keys held a very special place in his heart where he comes from a long line of seasoned fishermen. He loved to share his childhood stories of growing up visiting beloved relatives in the Keys. He was so proud of his father’s decorated military career and his ability to fix any and all electronics. Craig inherited this gift of his Dad’s and more which he was passing on to Ethan. He was a brilliant self taught artist and his children inherited those amazing God given talents which come so easily to them all. He loved all animals and shared his sister Jean’s love of Chihuahuas. Craig died a hero, let no one be mistaken. He gave his life to save another. No one that knows him was suprised by the decision he made and the actions he took and although immeasurably humbled by it, we are also heartbroken. We will all continue to try to bring Craig’s memory and legacy to life and ask as people who knew him and loved him that you do the same. Especially for his children. His survivors include the mother of his children, Beth Shotwell; daughters and son, Elizabeth, Alise and Ethan Shotwell; brothers and sisters, Bill Shotwell and his wife Patty, Bruce Shotwell, Linda Jones, Joanne Burgess and her husband Stephen, and Jean Allen and her husband John; nephews and nieces, Chris Shotwell, Matthew Shotwell, Cinnamon Colbert and her husband Chris, Melody Turner and her husband Dan, Mike Shotwell and his wife Kelli, Spencer Jones and his wife Elle, Jon Burgess and his wife Diane, Ryan Burgess and his wife Sonia, and Dennis Diaz and his wife Allison. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at LifePoint Church, 1701 Emory Road (Rt 91), Reisterstown, MD 21136. Inurnment to follow at 3:00pm at Lake View Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
