Carroll Thompson "Tom" Pardoe

Carroll Thompson "Tom" Pardoe, age 87, of Woodbine, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at home. He was born on August 28, 1937, in Baltimore, MD to the late Myrle Livingston Pardoe, Sr. and Lydia (Stephan) Pardoe. He was predeceased by his wife Frankie Marie (Allen) Pardoe. Tom was a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Class of 1953. He then served in the US Army. After his service to our country, he attended and graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with honors in 1965. Tom then went on to have a long career with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, starting as a electrical engineer and then retiring as a systems engineer and member of the senior professional staff. After his retirement he went on to teach Systems Engineering for Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab for over 15 years. As remembered by his Goshen friends - He was an ardent and loyal member of Goshen Hounds for many years. His leadership abilities were recognized early on, and he served many of those years on the Board of Governors and as a Master of the Hunt. He was on the staff of the prestigious Applied Physics Laboratory, a notable accomplishment. He served his community as a member of the Lions Club where he could be found flipping hamburgers at the Howard County Fair. He was very active in 4-H. He along with his wife were the leaders of Centaurs 4-H Club. He also served as chairman of the horse department and committee member for livestock auction for the Howard County Fair. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed throwing a good party. He was known as a real character always joking and being the life of the party. His real avocation was horses, hounds and hunting (with Goshen). He led a very spirited 2nd field. He filed the annual hound book for the MFHA. Tom also developed a trusting relationship with the Maryland Park Police that we all enjoy today. Tom was the club’s historian, a bridge to Goshen’s past. Newer members might remember Tom and the black pony, a small Ford SUV. When Tom stopped riding, he assumed the position as road whip. Not only did he pick up the wayward hound, but he also slaked many a hunter’s thirst with his flask of Bourbon. Tom was supported in his hunting activities by his beloved wife, Frankie. She used her beautiful artistic talents painting and sketching many scenes of the hunt world. He also enjoyed woodworking. Most of all Tom cherished being a devoted father, grandfather, uncle which extended to his in-laws. Notably, Tom was Goshen's ambassador to the hunt world, and he carried that banner well. When I travel to other hunts, inevitably, folks ask, "How is Master Tom?" He was a long time MAWC board member representing Goshen. He attended many a Hunt Ball including the Master's Ball in NYC. With some difficulty, he even attended a local Farm Club dinner earlier this month knowing that many of our landowners would be present. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Kimberly A. and Timothy Manuelides and Stephanie M. and David Stull and grandson Kyle Stull and wife Briana. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Myrle Pardoe, Jr., David Pardoe and Robert Pardoe and sisters Lyla Sanders and Jean Gardner. Funeral services and interment will be private. A celebration of life will be on Saturday, August 2nd at the Goshen Hounds Kennels, 5101 Damascus Road, Gaithersburg, MD at 4:00 PM.
