Carole A. Cooper Bell

Early Life and Family • Carole was born in Baltimore, MD to her parents, Ralph and Marie Wolfe. Marriages and Life Journey • June 22, 1945, she married John Ray Cooper. Their marriage was a loving partnership that endured for 53 years, until John's passing on February 2, 1999. John proudly served as a Navy Veteran during World War II. • December 26, 2000, Carole found love again and married Luther “Buddy” Bell. They shared 16 years together before Buddy's passing on January 29, 2017. Buddy was a proud Marine Veteran of World War II. • In August 2021, Carole made the heartfelt decision to move to OR to be with her daughter and son-in-law, embracing a new chapter surrounded by family. • On November 20, 2024, Carole celebrated her 100th birthday. The mayor of Tualatin honored her on this special day. She enjoyed a memorable dinner at Riccardo’s Ristorante (her favorite place to eat in OR), joined by her family, a dear 99-year-old friend, and her loved ones. Though she would have cherished dining at her all-time favorite, Tio Pepe’s in MD, the distance made it a dream for another time. Professional Life and Passions • Carole dedicated 30 years as a Service Rep. at C. & P. Telephone Co. • She volunteered on the Alter Guild at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. • Carole was renowned for her outstanding cooking and baking-her “sticky buns were considered the best in MD.” She took great joy in entertaining friends for dinner. Carole was an excellent housekeeper, maintaining a beautiful and welcoming home. On holidays, Carole decorated her home and coordinated her seasonal clothes and jewelry with care and enthusiasm. • Carole enjoyed square dancing and line dancing, embracing the joys of movement and music. • An avid traveler, Carole explored both the United States and the world, cherishing her trips to Alaska on Holland America Cruises. • Carole enjoyed writing and sending cards, always reaching out to family and friends with thoughtful messages. • She collected “snow villages,” adding a touch of nostalgia to her home. • Carole’s advice for a long and happy life: “Keep active” and “Eat a balanced diet.” Final Years and Farewell • Carole led an active life. After celebrating her 101st birthday on November 20, 2025, she began to slow down. Feeling that she was ready to reunite with loved ones, Carole entered hospice care on January 30, surrounded by the love of family, friends, and caring spiritual leaders. • Visits from her nieces Maureen and Kristen in February brought her great joy and comfort. On February 22, 2026, Carole passed peacefully at 11:30a.m. with daughter Susan by her side. Personal Reflections • Carole was a wonderful mother, devoted wife, aunt, and friend who always gave her best. She enjoyed yellow roses, the color purple, Peppermint Patties, her beloved cat Lily, special music from the past, and good food. • One of Carole’s final heartfelt words to Susan was, “I love you more than anything.” These words will remain a special memory forever. Surviving Family • Daughter: Susan Cooper Labhard, MSN, RN & CAPT, Nurse Corp, US Navy (Ret.). Son-in-Law: Michael Edison Labhard, MD & E.E. (Ret.).
