Mrs. Bettye L. Kloetzli

July 23, 2011 beloved Wife and Mother, Bettye Louise Sauter Kloetzli 80 died peacefully at Seasons Hospice at the Northwest Hospital, Randallstown, Maryland. Known as “Bettye Lou” to those who knew her best she was born the only child of John Upton Sauter and Eliza M Mallonee (both deceased) on January 2, 1931. She was the quintessential farmer’s daughter, a pretty girl growing up on the family farm on Dogwood Road in Windsor Mill, MD. Her first school was a two room school house on Quaker Hill, where her mother was a teacher. As a beautiful young woman she enjoyed a modeling career in Baltimore. In 1948 while swimming at Sylvan Dell Quarry, she met a young Werner Kloetzli, Jr, first son of Werner Kloetzli and Hedwig Reichlin (both deceased), who was immediately smitten with her. In 1950 they married and she became an Army wife, spending several years in Germany where their first son was born. By 1958, they had 4 children and were living the American dream in New Jersey. After moving to University Park, MD which they call home for 12 years, they eventually resided in Ellicott City, MD for the next 33 years, finally retiring in Sykesville, MD in 2005, where she resided until her death. For 61 years she was a good and faithful wife and mother “keeping tabs” on and praying daily for her children and grandchildren. She loved antiques, artwork, ballet, classical music and the finer things in life. She enjoyed family gatherings and had good humor. Her tenacity and independent spirit will be missed, as will her unconditional love and devotion to family. She is survived by her husband Werner Kloetzli, Jr and 3 sons, John Werner Kloetzli and wife Alice Baker Kloetzli, Thomas William Kloetzli and wife Margaret Livingston Kloetzli, Richard Frederick Kloetzli and wife Pamela Markus Kloetzli, and 1 daughter Cynthia Louise Velle and 5 grandchildren, Liesel Anna, John Werner and Abigail Suzanne Kloetzli and Aimee Louise Velle and Alexander Michael Velle III. Interment will be Wednesday July 27, 2011 at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Marriottsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of to Liberty Church (General Fund) 11301 Liberty Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117 or Fairhaven Retirement Community, Resident Assistance Fund, 7200 Third Ave, Sykesville, MD 21784.
