Mrs. Arlynne Mather Dickson

Arlynne Frances Mather Dickson, 83, entered eternal rest on March 25, 2021, at home and with her family by her side, in Finksburg, Maryland. Born November 4, 1937, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Earl Francis Mather and Wilhelmina Kastner. Arlynne spent her childhood and early years in Woodlawn, Maryland, with her sister, Leah Farmer, and her brother, Neal Mather. In 1959, she married her beloved husband, the late Fred Dickson Sr., and together they had three children: Freddie, Gary, and Jennifer. For many years, Arlynne worked as an administrator for her husband’s business, Dickson Plumbing and Heating. She also modeled for many department stores and took pride in her title as Miss Pepsi-Cola. Prior to that, she worked as a secretary for the Equitable Trust Building in Baltimore. Although Arlynne served in many different roles, she always cherished her time as a homemaker, raising her three children and six grandchildren. Arlynne attended Goucher College and graduated from the Notre Dame of Maryland University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Women’s Studies. In 2000, she also served as Worthy Matron for the Order of the Eastern Star. Arlynne was an excellent artist and master of many mediums. Over the years, she sculpted and painted numerous unique pieces, passing her love of art onto her children and grandchildren. Arlynne was an avid traveler, dancer, and animal-lover. She enjoyed nature and frequently walked through her garden, observing the surrounding wildlife. Arlynne’s doors were always open to family and friends, where they all gathered on many occasions, both in Woodlawn and at her final home in Finksburg. Her cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed, but always remembered. Arlynne is survived by her sister, Leah Farmer (Noel); brother, Neal Mather (Sue); son, Fred Dickson, Jr. (Leslie); son, Gary Dickson (Joyce); daughter, Jennifer Hoke (Ernie); six grandchildren, Crystal, Arlynnell, Leanne, Philip, Marissa, and Marah; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be an outdoor burial service at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, Maryland, on Monday, March 29th, at 11:00 a.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Sierra Club Foundation and Reese Volunteer Fire Company in Westminster, Maryland.
