Mr. Anthony R. Waggoner

Anthony Rhodney Waggoner was born on August 24, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to the late parents, Rhodney and Thelma Waggoner. He went home to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ on the morning of December 28, 2020 at the young age of 75 in Sykesville, MD. We honor him (Anthony, Dad, Pop-Pop, Uncle Anthony, Big Anthony) because in his heart, word and deed he treasured and cherished all of us. His life of love (John 15:12 - This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you) and laughter (Proverbs 17:22 - A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones) stretched deep and wide to his family, friends and the stranger alike. A gifted Teacher of the word of God, teaching at Elkridge Baptist Church, Howard County. First Baptist Church of Laurel Spanish, Prince Georges County and Faith Family Church, Carroll County. Anthony and Wife, Linda are present active members of Friendship Baptist Church, Sykesville, MD, Howard County where they worship and fellowship with family and friends. We hold you in all our hearts, Wife, Linda F. Waggoner (52 years). Children, daughter Anjanette Gibson, son Eric and daughter-in-law Paula Waggoner. Siblings, brother Stanley and sister-in-law DeAnn Waggoner, late sister Sandra Waggoner-Bruton, brother-in-law Warren and sister-in-law Patricia Benton. Grandchildren, Terrance Johnson, Jared and wife, Kelly Matthews, Nia Gibson, Nugent Gibson, Ethan Waggoner, Abigail Waggoner. Great-Grandchildren - Joe’l and Jayden Matthews, Malil and Memphis Carter-Gibson. Nieces, Monica and husband, Grzegorz Szkorla, Andrea' and husband, Randy Vernon. Nephews Joshua and wife, Lacey Waggoner, Michael and wife, Heather Smith, Chris and wife, Krista Smith. Grand Neices, Oliwia Szkorla, Aria Waggoner and Lena Smith. Grand Nephews Michal and Lukasz Szkorla, Levi Vernon, Hayden and Blake Waggoner. Anthony graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington (1968) and served in the US Army from (1968-1971). After serving in the military, he began his career working at the National Security Agency (19 years) as an Arabic Linguist. Adjunct Faculty at Howard Community College, Maryland teaching Arabic and Spanish. Adjunct Faculty at Carroll Community College, Maryland teaching Spanish. Teacher of various ESL classes. Due to current restrictions, the visitation and funeral service will be private. Interment will be held at the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD on January 11, 2021 (time TBD).
