Amy Leigh Wheatley

Amy Leigh Wheatley, known affectionately as Amy by her loved ones, passed away on February 27, 2026, at the age of 45 in Westminster, MD. Born on October 22, 1980, in Baltimore, MD, she expressed joy and kindness throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Amy was the daughter of the late Amos L. Wheatley, III and Caroline B. (Lettieri) Carver and stepfather James G. Carver. She grew up in a loving home alongside her brother, Amos L. Wheatley, IV, and her sister, Jennifer E. Figard, who, with her husband Josh, were a significant part of Amy's life. Amy's family extended to include many aunts, uncles, and cousins, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Education was a journey of both challenge and triumph for Amy. She graduated from the post-secondary education program at Carroll Community College. As an athlete, Amy's passion and dedication were evident. For 30 years, she was an avid participant in the Maryland Special Olympics, where she competed in track and field and swimming. Her achievements in the pool led her to achieve third place at the state level in the Special Olympics. Beyond the competitive arena, Amy had been a member of the Wynwood Community Swim Team, where she was honored with the "Wynwood Warrior Award" in 1999. Camping held a special place in Amy's heart, especially her time spent at Camp Green Top in Thurmont, MD. These moments were filled with laughter, friendship, and the joy of the outdoors, which she so loved. Amy's worked at Wendy's in Eldersburg for several years, where she was known for her friendly demeanor and thoughtful service. A true movie buff, Amy's love for the silver screen was evident to all who knew her. She was a huge fan of John Travolta. Her presence was a gift. Amy's love for all people was only matched by her endearing love for her lifetime friend, Alan Davis. Amy's legacy is one of love, perseverance, and the joy of living life to the fullest. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have her in their life. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a celebration of life service will follow at 3 PM. Interment will be private. Flowers will kindly be accepted or those desiring may make memorial donations to the Maryland Special Olympics or to the National Downs Syndrome Congress.
