Mr. Thomas Malcolm Nichols III

Thomas Malcom Nichols III left us August 29th, 2019 with his family by his side in Columbia, MD. Born in Baltimore City to the late Thomas Nichols II and Virginia Nichols. He was a loving and faithful husband to Joyce Nichols of 51 years. He was a loving and courageous father to son(s)Thomas Nichols IV and wife Stacie Nichols of Taneytown, MD. Matthew Nichols and wife Jeanne Nichols of Mt. Airy, MD. Daughter Amy Studdard and significant other Kevin Perry of Dayton, MD. One of his greatest roles in life was being a “Poppop” to his grandchildren; Cacie and fiancé Devonte, Tommy, Chaz, Madalyn, Molly, Matthew, Sean, Isaiah, Braxton and great-grandfather to Ricky. He is also survived by his sister(s) Nancy McCurdy and husband Dwight McCurdy, Bonnie Ebert and husband Terry Ebert, brother Malcom Nichols and wife Nancy Nichols. Sister-in-laws Jill Cassell, Judy Merson, And Denise Merson. Brother-in-law Jason Merson and Wife Jeanne Merson of Westminster, MD. He is pre-deceased in death by his Father and Mother-in-law, Jack and Jimmie Merson, and brother-in-laws John Merson, Jeff Merson, and Jim Cassell. Tom could often be found in one of 4 places; on a job laying brick, at the casino playing poker, on a golf course, or at his house where he would often entertain his grandchildren. Tom was built like an ox indestructible, hard headed, tough, and strong. He never backed down from a challenge, and you always felt safe if he was present, unless you were riding in the car with him. He had famous phrases that he would always say (or yell) such as “See y’all later” and “Yeah right”. He could chug a class of Milk and put a whole piece of “1234”cake in his mouth without effort. You could say he had a love for Joyce’s cooking and baking because he could never wait to eat for family events. His hugs were like hugging a giant teddy bear and handshakes were great enough to break a hand. He carried those traits with him until the very end. He will be greatly missed by his family until they see him again. The family extends the invitation to come and celebrate his life; to share photos, stories, and good times in remembrance of our one of a kind, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. On Saturday September 7th at 12pm at 14138 Howard rd. Dayton, MD. In lieu of flowers the family wishes for you to make a contribution to Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department or Melville united Methodist church in Elkridge, MD.
