Mrs. Teresa Marie Weinschenk

Teresa Marie Weinschenk, 56, of Eldersburg, MD passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on May 18, 2023. Teresa was born on July 13, 1966 in Baltimore, MD to parents Ken and Charlotte Robinson. Teresa spent her early years riding bikes in the alley outside their Baltimore City rowhome, but the majority of her childhood was spent in the house built by her father in Pasadena. She graduated from Chesapeake High School in 1984 and began her career as a high school work study at the National Security Agency (NSA). Teresa worked as a secretary/data analyst at NSA and Booz Allen Hamilton for several years, where she met her loving husband in 1985. Teresa and Tom were married in 1988 and started their lives together by moving to Eldersburg. They went on to have two children, daughters Rebecca (1994) and Holly (1995). After the birth of her first child, Teresa fulfilled the job she spent years praying for as a stay-at-home mom. In 1998, her daughters witnessed their dedicated mother graduate with her associate’s degree in Business Administration from Carroll Community College. Teresa’s love for volunteering at her daughters’ schools led her to her dream job as a preschool teacher at Wesley Freedom Early Years Learning Center (EYLC) in 2001. Over her 22 years at EYLC, Teresa touched the lives of hundreds of children in the community. Through this work and her ability to find friends everywhere she went, Teresa’s family gave her the unofficial title “Mayor of Eldersburg.” Over the years, Teresa enjoyed countless concerts on the lawn at Merriweather Post Pavilion with her husband Tom. Despite hating the freezing temperatures, Teresa bundled up and attended so many Penn State Football Games that she received a letter deeming her an Honorary Alumni. In addition, she always looked forward to “crop-weekends,” where she could document her family’s memories in beautiful handmade scrapbooks. Some of her other hobbies included going out to frequent dinners with friends, birdwatching, vacationing with her family, eating endless chocolate chip cookies, and walking her precious golden retriever, Sparky. Teresa’s very favorite hobby was spending summers at her family’s cottage at Chapman Lake. There, she relaxed by reading books every day, celebrating happy hour on the deck every evening, and eating Manning’s cookie dough ice cream every night. Above all else, Teresa cherished her faith. She was a longtime active member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Community and the Women of Wesley bible study group at Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church. Teresa was predeceased by her father William “Ken” Robinson. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Thomas Weinschenk, of Eldersburg, MD; daughter Rebecca Bamundo (Mark), of Columbia, MD; daughter Holly Weinschenk, of Baltimore, MD; mother Charlotte Robinson, of Pasadena, MD; and sister Gail Zepp (Robert II), of Pasadena, MD. Teresa is also survived by many beloved in-laws and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, May 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784. A reception will follow at Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, 961 Johnsville Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Weinschenk’s honor to Wesley Freedom Early Years Learning Center.
