Mary Cecelia Farinholt

Mary Cecelia Farinholt, age 91, of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at her home. Born July 30, 1927, in Catonsville, MD she was the daughter of the late Jerry W. Wurtzer and Cecelia Bushman Wurtzer. She was the loving wife of the late John Theodore "Ted" Farinholt who died in 1990. Mary was a retired Teaching Assistant from Howard County Public Schools and had worked at Lisbon Elementary School for many years. She was a longtime volunteer and auxiliary member of Lisbon Fire Department where she served for 67 years. She also enjoyed baking for many functions at the fire department over the years. Mary was a member of Lisbon United Methodist Church. She enjoyed dedicating her time to help sewing and crocheting for "Little Elves with Big Hearts" an organization to benefit kids with cancer. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Paul and Sharon Farinholt and Mark and Cheri Farinholt; daughters and sons-in-law: Debbie and Doug Russell and Cindy and Garry Barnard; sisters: Ann Patrick and husband David and Dotsy Pope; grandchildren: Misty and Brian, Brian, Timmy and wife Gina, Joey, Danielle and husband Matt, Tara, Brandy, Dawn and husband Jodie, April, Todd and wife Kim, Amber, Carley, Justin, Lindsay and husband Jake, Lauren and husband JT, Ashlea and Justin, Garrett and wife Maddie, Austin and Grace and Jake and great-grandchildren: Riley, Trystan, Teagan, Bella, Benny, Rocco Valen, Kiley, Paige, Brooks, Graydon, Sterling, Grant, Slaydon, Farin, Ty, Alec, Avery, Andalyn, Ian, Ryker, Emma, Alex, Logan, Nathan, Carter and many extended family and friends. Mary was predeceased by daughters: Jeannie Warfield, Betsy Parks and Pam Allen and siblings: Charles Wurtzer and Elizabeth Dietrich and great-grandson, Evan Tompkins. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. The Lisbon VFD Auxiliary will hold a memorial service on Thursday evening at 7pm at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11am at Lisbon United Methodist Church, Lisbon MD. Interment will be private.
