Henry Andrew Lent

Henry Andrew Lent, age 13, of Finksburg, MD died unexpectedly on Tuesday 08/18/2020 in Washington, D.C. Born a Washington State University Cougar on February 26, 2007 in Pullman, WA, he was the only son of Mark and Charity Lent. Henry was a dedicated ice hockey player, starting on the ice at the age of four years old in Columbus, Georgia. In nine years he never went more than 2 months without skating and played for five different hockey clubs in Georgia, New York, Germany, and Maryland. He was looking forward to starting the new season as a traveling team member of the Montgomery Youth Hockey Association. He also played for several spring and tournament teams outside of the regular season(s). In addition to hockey, Henry had just started playing basketball and had developed a beautiful fade-away jump shot. Outside of athletics, Henry enjoyed playing video games with his friends, enjoying time with his dog Moose, and both giving and receiving a good deal of good-natured ribbing from his and to his parents. Henry was a military brat who grew up all over the United States and Europe. He and his mom endured multiple military deployments with a smile on their face, and a thirst to seize the local opportunities, whatever those may have been. Henry was a great young man with a quick wit, big beautiful smile, and incredibly well developed sense of humor. He died tragically, and far too young, but absolutely doing what he loved. He will be missed dearly by all that knew him. Surviving in addition to Henry’s parents are his grandparents, Bill and Connie Johnson of Florida, and Bobbie and Jerry Lent of Arkansas, and uncle, aunt, and cousin: Dave, Anny and Otto Lent of Washington State. He was also survived by a large number of great aunts, great uncles, and cousins. The extended family goes far beyond blood relatives, as he is lucky to be counted on the rolls of not only the rabid youth hockey community, but also the tight-knit military community of parents and dependents with which he served. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic a private visitation will be held at the convenience of the family, and a public celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
